Verifying a completed qualification from The Open University (OU)

Third party enquirers such as employers, agencies and embassies must verify completed awards from our university with Prospects Hedd. We do not accept third party verification requests via email.

There is a small charge for each enquiry, and you must provide an OU consent form completed and signed by the candidate.

Enquiries are checked and completed by The Open University Qualifications Centre. Please allow 10 working days for your request to be processed.

Verifying ongoing study and incomplete qualifications from The Open University

If your enquiry relates to a current student, or an incomplete qualification, please contact our STAR team at STAR-requests@open.ac.uk. Incomplete OU study cannot be verified using Hedd.

Open University Validated Partnerships (another department in the OU) also maintains two types of records for verification purposes.

1. CNAA Records: Original records from the Council for National Academic Awards, which was the awarding body for degrees prior to 1993.

2. OU-Validated Awards: Records of awards for students who studied with one of the Open University’s validated partner institutions.
